Grandpa and Grandma, Plus Other Shenanigans

It was wonderful to have Grandpa and Grandma visit this week!  We went on Thursday to the famous Saint George Gorge.  We had a picnic there and bought a blueberry pie.  Devon was able to experiment with some long exposure images using welder's glass, and got the following image:

We took the ferry to Deer Island for a little exploring too!  Unfortunately, it was quite brief, as we had to get some eats and were expecting Elliott to wake up at any moment!

A special thanks to Great Grandma Cory Wadman for making the cute outfit for Elliott!  He's grown so much, we were lucky that it still fit him!

We explored the Fredericton Market on Saturday, which gave Devon a change to test out his new lens.  Devon is happy.  Here's Grandpa chatting with a fellow wood carver at the market.

Elliott was awake pretty much the whole time!

The new wide angle lens is really nice, and ludicrously sharp.  Jack fell in love with Grandpa almost immediately.

The Many Faces of Elliott with Grandma:

Thursday 19 April 2018

Grandpa and Grandma came for a visit!  They arrived on the 18th to spend a few days worth of visits and cuddles.

Elliott now has a play mat to occupy him!  He's been quite happy so far laying under it and looking up at all the colourful animals and junk.

The Many Faces of Elliott Part 2

Elliott is starting to 'coo,' smile more often, move his head, track objects with his eyes and is responding to voices and sounds more.  It's really amazing to see how his little personality is changing.  Last night he slept for 5 hours... a new record!  Also, he poops a lot.

He was a bit startled by the rattling sound... apparently.

He's starting to smile more!

Grabbing Daddy's finger... but still not sure what to do with it.

Tummy-Time doesn't last very long.  He usually gets upset and squirms until he rolls over.

Exhibit A:  The Elliott lifts his head extremely high before rolling off the pillow.

Exhibit B:  The Elliott has fallen over.

Elliott and Tabita

Tabita went home on Saturday, after spending two weeks with us, helping around the house and getting some cuddle-time with Elliott.  It was so great to have her over here and it's crazy to think of how different he will be the next time she sees him.

We were hoping for a smile or something for Tabita to leave with... but nope!!

Also, Elliott is stating to look around more, be awake longer and is beginning to notice and track movements and sounds!  It's pretty fun!

Chatting with Opa and Oma!

Bonus Photo:  We were wondering why it would take Garth so long at night to come when we called him.  It wasn't until the morning that we realized there was a pile of snow allowing him to cross our fence into our neighbours!  We thought it was a snow-blower pile at first, so we dug it down, but the next day our neighbour piled it up again!  He loves Garth :D  Maybe this summer we'll have to build a ramp thing.

The Baby Room Mural Project

Devon spent time painting this mural in Elliott's room.  The music score comes from part of the hymn Be Though My Vision.  The notes match what's in the hymnal for the part of the song that's written.  Everything was painted by hand except the lettering, because seriously.. who want's to paint letters?!

The lines were done using tape for nice clean edges and the treble clef was sketched and then painted.  A little wonky, but it works.  A stencil was made for the notes, so they each had the same shape and size.

Pencil was used to transfer the rough shape onto the wall before painting.

The circles for each note were painted first, before tape was used for the tails.

Tape was used for the tails, so the lines would be nice and crisp.

The owl was first traced, then cut-out as a stencil and pencil-traced onto the wall before being painted.

Shapes were first placed on the wall to see where they would fit well.  It was hard to estimate what it would look like this way, so later I used a black cut-out of each shape before painting.

The finished mural!  Stickers were used for the lettering.

One Month Old!!!

Elliott is one month old today.  We are praising God for a happy healthy little man!
